Paper Guidelines:

The paper and presentation each represent 10% of the total course grade. Each
group will prepare a 20-page paper (double-spaced, inclusive of bibliography) on
defined preservation and digitization issues associated with their assigned
media. Each group member will be assigned a section of the paper to research and
write. The author of each section must sign his/her section. The bibliographic
references for each section should be compiled under separate section headings
at the end of the paper.


The paper will cover the following:
Research and report the most up-to-date information, standards, best practices,
guidelines, thinking, etc. on the following with regard to the media in
question. With the exception of 2.a., please use sources produced within the
past 3 years.

a. Preservation of the analog version
b. Selection of and handling for digital capture
c. Digital capture
d. Technical metadata
e. Web presentation
f. Archiving
