Course Description
The purpose of this course is to examine the role of digitization in libraries and archives, and to learn how to use digitization to create faithful, sustainable digital reproductions (often referred to as “surrogates”) of the kinds of paper and audiovisual collection materials often found in libraries and archives. Students will digitize photographic formats, printed text, audio, and video. The course will emphasize the production of quality digital surrogates. The course will focus heavily on hands-on digitization work.
