Instructor: Megan WingetCourse Meeting TimesThursdays, 12 - 3 PM, SZB 468 Course Description(Described on the school website): Introduction to general principles and features of organizing and providing access to information, including varieties and numbers of information-bearing objects, different traditions of practice, user concerns, metadata and metadata formats, document representation and description, subject access, and information system features and evaluation. (My personal goals for this class): This course will introduce the intellectual foundations of information organization: conceptual modeling, semantic representation, vocabulary and metadata design, classification, and standardization, as well as a brief introduction to information retrieval practices, technology, and applications.
